FAQs

Can you travel to my town to give a presentation?

While I strive to keep rates affordable for groups of all sizes and virtual presentations will always be the most cost-effective, if your organization or university has the funds to fly me out to speak in person, I would love to join you anywhere in the United States or around the world.

How much do your services/speaking engagements cost?

I quote all consulting/speaking services on-demand; there are no set prices, and I strive to work with groups of all budget levels.

Are you an influencer?

While I like to think that I have a small circle of influence with friends and colleagues, I do not see myself as an influencer in this space. I am not invited to see theater in New York, I do not get PR boxes mailed to my home, and I am not invited to the kinds of private events that the Theater Influencers are invited to. As such, I have considerably more flexibility, and no contractual limitations, in how I can interact with clients looking to learn about the industry.

How can you afford to see so much theater?

I love theater, but don’t feel the need to see every show from premium seats. I have sat in both the front row and last row of most Broadway theaters, and feel I get an adequate experience from both vantage points. I try to limit myself to 1-3 full-price orchestra tickets each Broadway season. Otherwise, I rely on the network of affordable ticketing options, like discount codes, rush, lottery, TDF, TKTS, and others that I cannot contractually write about here, that run in tandem with full-price tickets options, and if all else fails, will gladly sit in the cheapest face-value seat in the last row of the theater. I am occasionally offered complimentary tickets from producers, and friends working on Broadway projects, but these are rare. For a full listing of available-to-all low-cost ticket options, visit bwayrush.com. If you want information on the sources I cannot write about publicly on the internet, feel free to visit the contact page and email me.

Why do you never publish reviews of theater you see?

There are several reasons why:

I often see shows in early previews, when the creatives are still working on the piece. I don’t want to say there is a great number in Act 2 that might be cut the next night, or any number of similar situations like that.

More importantly, I don’t want to be the one to tell you to not see a new musical. If a piece has managed to raise the $12-$25 million it takes to put up a musical on Broadway, it’s almost always worth the cheap seats, and often the expensive ones.

As always, if you want detailed thoughts on anything I see, or recommendations on what to see when you’re in New York, feel free and contact me.

Can you hire a Broadway performer to speak to my group/teach a workshop remotely or in New York?

I can work with you to try and engage a performer from a show you will be seeing in New York, but know that there is considerable expense in both compensating the performer, and an accompanist if needed, and studio rental in New York City. If I cannot make a connection myself, I will work with my network of contacts to provide the service your group is looking for.

Do you make theater-themed merchandise?

I recommend you reach out to my friends Elexa at Lexicon of Love Music Art, Tim at Broadway Up Close, and Anant at Broadway Boxed Up.

I would like to invest in a Broadway production. Where do I start?

If you meet the SEC standards for an accredited investor, reach out to me by email on our Contact page, and I can connect you with several friends who regularly produce theater in New York, around the country, and around the world.
